SUMMARY:U MASS Lowell - Homecoming Pickleball Slam
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special UMass Lowell Homecoming event on Saturday\, October 19th\, welcoming pickleball players ages 18 and older. \nSpecial discounts available for Veterans and active UMass Lowell students. All proceeds will benefit our Veteran students and the UMass Lowell Campus Recreation Center. \nTournament Games Format:\n-Round Robin pool game format is play to 11 (win by 1)\n-Top 4 teams will advance to playoffs\n-Brackets with 8 or less: top and 2nd seed play for gold\, 3rd and 4th seeds play for bronze.\n-Brackets with 9 or more: will spilt in 2 pools where top seed will play 2nd seed of other pool in semi-finals and winners will play for gold in finals while losers of semi-finals will play for bronze. \nThe Tournament Director reserves the right to merge brackets if there are not enough teams for a bracket\, then skill divisions. We will do a round robin format with possibility of playoffs depending on time permitting. We reserve the right to combine or split brackets as necessary based on timing and those involved. \n\n\nAdditional Information\nCost:\n$40.00 per person to register. \nThis is a Doubles only Tournament.\n-Saturday Women’s doubles check-in at 8:00am – start 8:30am\n-Saturday Mixed doubles check-in at 11:00am – start 11:30am\n-Saturday Men’s doubles check in at 2:00pm – start 2:30pm \nIf you wish to add an additional category\, the cost per person is $20 (i.e. playing gender and mixed). \nEarly Bird $40 | Now – Aug. 30\nDeadline $60 | Aug 31- Oct 13\nDeadline $80 | Oct 14 -16 \n*Skill Level: (Ratings will be verified by the club at point of registration). Players with a DUPR rating must use that rating. Players with a USAPA UTPR rating but no DUPR rating must use that rating. Players with neither rating may self-rate within reason. The tournament reserves the right to move players and teams between skill-level brackets/events. \n*Registering Together As A Team (TIP) : For a guaranteed spot in mixed doubles or doubles\, the second partner must sign up within 5 days of the first partner’s registration. Incomplete teams will be moved to the waiting list after that. Once the second partner registers\, they will be moved back into the event IF THERE ARE SPOTS LEFT IN THE TOURNAMENT AND THE EVENT. \n\n\nWeather\nThe tournament will take place at the Campus Recreation Complex Tennis Courts\, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather\, the Campus Recreation Indoor Basketball Courts will be used instead. \n\n\nRefund Policy\n*NO refunds for ANY reason as play will continue indoors if inclement weather. Please consider your registration a donation to our student Veterans. \n*Replacement Players/Subbing* Entry fees may be transferred to a replacement player/sub of similar skill level at any time up through the morning of the event. \nFor Example: A player won’t be able to attend the tournament but has a replacement/sub. Can the replacement/sub take my spot?
