🥶 Cold Outside, 🔥 Fire on the Courts: Boise State Surges to Victory

It was freezing outside, but the action was hot inside.
Despite winter weather forcing Oklahoma State and Texas A&M to cancel due to the storm, the teams that made it to the courts delivered a weekend packed with grit, momentum swings, and clutch tiebreak drama.

Pool Play Seeding

After pool play concluded, the standings shook out as follows:

  1. Fresno State 1 – Samantha Montes, Lisa DiCarlo, Justin Guiltinan, Nicholas Wise
  2. Arizona State University (ASU) – Arsh Sharma, Darcy Shore, Nathan Tang, Zoe Hugos
  3. UT Austin – Gabrielle Castro, Jordan Chancellor, Eli Trumeter, Zeyad Elchouemi
  4. Boise State – Kade Andrus, Luke Calvert, Sammi Ma, Mia Linam

Once elimination play began, however, the seeds quickly stopped mattering.

Playoff Round: Early Fireworks

Fresno State 2 pushed UT Austin straight to the edge in the opening playoff round, forcing a dramatic tiebreaker. Down 18–12, UT Austin showed serious resilience, ripping off a late surge to storm back and win the tiebreak, keeping their championship hopes alive.

Semifinals

The semifinals delivered two must-watch matchups:

  • Boise State vs. Fresno State 1
  • ASU vs. UT Austin

Boise State stunned the top seed, knocking off Fresno State 1 in a convincing 3–1 victory to punch their ticket to the finals.

On the other side of the bracket, UT Austin and ASU battled point-for-point into yet another tiebreaker. Locked at 18–18, UT Austin closed the door with three straight points, sealing the win 21–18 and advancing to the championship match.

Championship Match

Boise State vs. UT Austin

The finals delivered exactly what the day promised — another tiebreak showdown.

Boise State had just enough left in the tank, edging UT Austin 21–17 to claim first place. Boise State’s women were on fire all day — unleashing hard drives, applying relentless pressure, and placing precision shots when it mattered most.

It was simply Boise State’s day.

Third Place Match

ASU vs. Fresno State
ASU closed strong to secure the win and finish third overall.
