Battle in the Lone Starā: Washington Captures Texas Regional Title
The NCPA Texas Regional brought excitement, upsets, and incredible collegiate pickleball action from start to finish.
8th-seeded Mississippi State stunned the crowd with an impressive run to the semifinals, taking down top-ranked San Diego State University in the quarterfinals. Their momentum, however, met a wall against the 4th-ranked University of Washington, who proved too strong and advanced to the finals.
On the opposite side of the bracket, 2nd-ranked LSU faced a major test early against University of ColoradoāBoulder, narrowly surviving a 7th-game tiebreaker in the quarterfinals. Battle-tested and determined, LSU went on to defeat UTāSan Antonio in six games to secure their place in the championship match.
In the finals, LSUāfeaturing Eden Guirard, Ethan Martin, Hunter Merritt, and Lauryn Goodwināpushed Washington to the brink, forcing a sixth game and coming within two points (12ā10) of sending it to a tiebreaker.
Ultimately, it was the University of Washington teamāJessica Pil, Rohan Thawani, Lorin Lee, and Luke Williamsāwho emerged victorious after a hard-fought battle.
